Domaine
Pascal Pibaleau
Les Vigerons de Oisly et Thésée
Domaine Hubert |
Domaine Pascal Pibaleau
|
If there
is one jewel amongst all the Loire Châteaux it is Azay-le-Rideau.
This is also the name of a tiny appellation where we found
Pascal Pibaleau - a winemaker owned by the same family since
1886. These days it is the 21st century Pascal Pibaleau who
oversees matters - his philosophy is modern wine making based
on a foundation of tradition. |
|
Touraine
Sauvignon Blanc 2000
Pascal
personally selects the grapes and vinifies them in a way that
produces a delightfully elegant, subtle style of Sauvignon.
None of this over-the-top New World brashness - rather a wine
that is crisp, fruity, and delightful with seafood. |
|
|
Touraine
Cabernet 1999
Like the white wine Pascal is hyper careful
about his selection of grapes to go into making this wine.
Lots of black fruits, nice balancing tannins, and very good
length. An excellent wine to go with hearty meat dishes such
as beef carbonade.
2002 now available at the same price!
Please see our catalogue. |

| Les
Vignerons de Oisly et Thésée
|
The
largest wine producer in the Touraine, and consistently one
of the leading co-operatives in the whole of France. We were
deeply impressed by their attention to detail, and the quality
of their wines shines through. In their case big is definitely
beautiful. |
|
Touraine
Pinot Noir 2000
Sourcing
affordable Pinot Noir is a nightmare, but we have found one.
Pinot noir is a fickle grape that actually enjoys a cool climate.
The result in the Touraine is a light, fruity style of wine
- try it slightly chilled it is delicious. |
|
Domaine
Hubert |
| Bourgeuil
is a red wine appellation brimming with quality wine producers,
but one of the longest established is the family Hubert -
1730 is when they started. |
|
Bourgeuil
1997
100% Cabernet
France from vines with an average age of 25 years. This wine
is now ready to drink, and offers elegance, balance and very
good length. |

 |
| The Touraine wine region of France is at the heart of the
huge Loire wine producing area. It is proud of its long history
of quality wine production. |
 |
| It is an area well known to many from this country, as it
is one of the most popular holiday regions in France. It is
the region of the French Châteaux such as Chenoceaux,
Chambord, Cheverny and so on. |
| The
style of its wines mirrors the region - stylish, traditional and full
of beauty. |
| Many people believe the Touraine only produces white wines,
but in fact over half the production of the area is red. The
main grape is the Cabernet Franc, and the style of these reds
is full and generous.
|
|
| Our
recent visit to the Touraine confirmed quality wines are still very
much in evidence, and we are happy to offer you a range that clearly
demonstrates this. We are also confident that these wines will be
excellent partners with food. |
| Not only that they also offer surprising value for money
- particularly our mixed case deal. |
| However,
as some of our wines are only produced in small quantities we strongly
advise you order as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment. |
