The
Chateau is now a well-known tourist destination with historic
cellars, a lively restaurant and superb accommodation. In
these vibrant surroundings, Remi Fardel and Jean Louis Pujol
produce some wonderful wines. |

 |
Domaine
de la Commanderie de St Jean 2001
This is
a Vin de Pays of the south, a delightful blend of Merlot,
Syrah and Pinot, which suggests red fruits with a hint of
leather. The soft tannins make for easy drinking. A perfect
accompaniment to meats, pasta and poultry. |

Chateau
Grezan Cuvee Arnard Lubac 2001
A cuvee of 50% Grenache, 35% Syrah and
15% Mourvedre. This intense, expressive wine with a hint of
blackcurrants, liquorice and garrigue is warm and powerful,
having spent 10-12 months in oak. This wine gives you a choice:
enjoy it now or keep for another 4-5 years, allowing the flavours
to intensify further. The true flavours of the terroir are
unleashed when accompanied by roast beef or game.
2002 now available at the same
price!

| Chateau
Coupe-Roses
|
Although
the winery is renowned for its bone-dry white wines, we have
unearthed a real treasure with a medium sweet Spatlese. Bruno
Schmitts winemaking has followed his family traditions
and we know you will be pleased with the result. |

Cuvee
Orience 2000
Françoise
Calvez at La Caunette, close to
Minerve, produces this silky Syrah. The wine perfectly expresses
its terroir with aromas of bilberries, blackberries
and blackcurrants. Pascal Frissant, a fervent advocate of
traditional agricultural methods, lovingly tenders the vines,
with superb results. Harlequin Wines suggests you try this
with casseroles and roast meats. |

Chateau
Villerambert-Julien |
  |
Chateau
Villerambert-Julien 2000
At Caunes-Minervois,
Michel Julien is the latest guardian of Villerambert, founded
in 1858. The 2000 Red is made from 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache.
The young wine is well structured and elegant, with a fragrance
of blackcurrant, violet, cinnamon and vanilla. Once aged,
it displays a characteristic aroma of leather, and candied
fruit. With their silky tannins, they are full and long on
the palate. Enjoy with either red or white meat at your Christmas
Dinner. |

| Winter is approaching, a time for special celebrations, and
cosy nights indoors. This season, we have selected four Languedoc
wines from the best hillside vineyards in the region, to compliment
festive
food and to bring a warming atmosphere to your home. |
 |
| Franconian wines are not so well known outside Germany so
this is your only opportunity to try some treasures that would
normally be difficult to source. |
| Faugeres
AC |
| The
typical aromas of Faugeres wines are "gun-flint" (mineral
note), "garrigue" (thyme, juniper), small red summer fruits,
liquorice and pepper. These combine to produce an unforgettable bouquet,
featured in the Chateau de Grezan wines we have selected on the left.
|
|
| Minervois
AC |
| This region produces some of the best
red wines in France's Languerdoc-Roussillon region. Minervois' popular
wines are fairly full-bodied, and made from Carignan, Cinsaut, Grenache,
and, increasingly from Mourvedre and Syrah, with flavoursome results.
Most of the production comes from area co-operatives. Our chosen Domaines'
winemakers have the skill to regularly produce excellent wines, as
can be seen in the selections from the Chateau Coupe-Roses and Chateau
Villerambert-Julien on the right. |
