(February 2005 "Half-time" Offer

This offer of a case of 12 half bottles is a new departure
for Harlequin Wines.

Do you only open a bottle for yourself?

Do you give wine as a simple gift to a friend or member
of your family?

If the answer is Yes, then a 37.5 cl bottle is ideal.
Harlequin Wines include the following wines we have
featured before:

The Sauvignon Blanc 2002 AOC Touraine has a lemony, zingy taste. This wine, we discovered, had won a gold medal at the Angers wine fair. It has now softened and lost its sharp edge. It comes from the Confrerie des Vignerons de Oisly et Thesee, a co-operative with the reputation of being one of the best collective wine producer in the whole of France

St Veran 2002 A rich and elegant Chardonnay from Davaye in Maconnais. When young it has much sought after pear and apple aromas. These now have evolved into a more complex bouquet of honey, almonds and roasted hazelnuts.

Chateau Grezan Cuvee Arnard Lubac 2004 A cuvee of 50% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre. This intense, expressive wine with a hint of blackcurrants, liquorice and “garrigue” is warm and powerful having spent 10-12 months in oak.

The Touraine wine region of France is at the heart of the huge Loire wine producing area. It is proud of its long history of quality wine production.
It is an area well known to many from this country, as it is one of the most popular holiday regions in France. It is the region of the French Châteaux such as Chenoceaux, Chambord, Cheverny and so on.
The style of its wines mirrors the region - stylish, traditional and full of beauty.
Many people believe the Touraine only produces white wines, but in fact over half the production of the area is red. The main grape is the Cabernet Franc, and the style of these reds is full and generous.
Our recent visit to the Touraine confirmed quality wines are still very much in evidence, and we are happy to offer you a range that clearly demonstrates this. We are also confident that these wines will be excellent partners with food.
Not only that they also offer surprising value for money - particularly our mixed case deal.
However, as some of our wines are only produced in small quantities we strongly advise you order as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment.
Minervois AC
This region produces some of the best red wines in France's Languerdoc-Roussillon region. Minervois' popular wines are fairly full-bodied, and made from Carignan, Cinsaut, Grenache, and, increasingly from Mourvedre and Syrah, with flavoursome results. Most of the production comes from area co-operatives. Our chosen Domaines' winemakers have the skill to regularly produce excellent wines, as can be seen in the selections from the Chateau Coupe-Roses and Chateau Villerambert-Julien on the right.
